Lone Star was a great time. We were happy to play in the same program as The Grass Grows Green and Crossing the Heart (winner of Best Narrative Short). Thanks to everyone at the festival who helped us out and showed us a good time.

Lone Star International Film Festival

It's official. The Lone Star National Film Festival has selected The Runners to screen in their Latino Shorts program on November the 11th at 9pm at AMC Palace 2 located at 220 East Third Street Fort Worth, TX. Fausto, Justin, and JorDan might just jump into the burrito bus and get over there.

The Runners is selected to play at the Sante Fe Film Festival which will be Nov 28th- Dec 2nd. We will know what the screening times are in November but Justin and JorDan are getting ready to get in the van and head north!

Tucson Film and Music Festival

The Runners was selected to play at the Tucson Film and Music Festival. The festival runs August 31st to September 3rd.
The Runners will be showing on
September 3rd - 3:30pm at the Rialto Theatre
There will be a Q&A with JorDan and Justin following the screening.

Post Production

As of now we have a good looking fine cut of the film without color correction, music and final sound touches. We are working with Arizona Norte for the score of the film. Everyone seems to really like the cut so we are excited to screen it to a bigger audience.

Day #4: Vigilantes get their revenge

Sunday April 1st: This was the last day of principle photography. We raced to get the last shot of the day during magic hour. JorDan and Justin did cartwheels in the street after wrapping. We had to overcome many unexpected obstacles that threatened to shut down production but our negotiating skills allowed us to emerge victorious.

Day #3: In the Desert with Rodrigo

We shot Saturday the 31st of March in Three Points. We met in town before sunrise and were shooting by about 8:00am. Juan Heinrich plays the role of Rodrigo the coyote. Ralph Edward returns in the film as Ellis Burns along with his son Lainey, played by Will Maloney. Our immigrants were played by Eddie Olmos (Fausto's brother), Bob Carrasco, and Luciano Sanchez. We were able to wrap Juan on Saturday when it seemed almost impossible to do so since he plays one of the biggest roles in the end of the film. Special thanks to James Arnette for filling in for Sam on Saturday.

TV segment- SPECIAL REPORT

On Saturday March 10th we shot our TV segment that plays on the TV in the living room in Jesus and Karen's trailer. The segment interviews ELLIS BURNS on his ranch about undocumented immigrants crossing his property. The part of Ellis is played by Ralph Edward.

Day #2: The Trailer

On Sunday we shot the interior and exterior of Jesus and Karen's trailer. William Killian was there playing the role of their landlord, Mr. Kinney. The day went very smoothly and went into full speed mode after about 4:30pm. Marco was there to provide the still photography.

Day #1: THE REAL BUSINESS

We filmed the opening sequence early Saturday morning at 3 Points followed by the pickup from the bus stop and the bathtub scene. Manny Ruvalcava played the first coyote in the film who drives Jesus and two other immigrants to the US. Fausto's father, Fausto Olmos senior played the role of an undocumented immigrant who comes out of the trunk of the car with him. Our good friends Sam Polito (Sound), Hank Knaack(Boom/Dolly Operator), Carina Johnson(Log), Justin Stern (Assistant Camera) were there on set to help us along with Rogelio Garcia (DP). Roch Mirabeau also loaned us his vehicle and security services. Lexi of AZSessions was there to hold it down on the still photography.

Shooting day #1- Special Report

Pre Production logistics

Mr. Fausto Olmos will be playing the lead, Jesus.

Anna Yosin will be playing Jesus's wife Karen.

We found out our original desert location was a giant sand trap. We were stuck in the sand for about 4 hours. However, we finally got out WITHOUT A TOW! It was quite amazing. Katie Harris was there sweating it out with us pushing the van and digging out the tires. We would have been totally finished if it weren't for the weird scrap metal and wood that was in the desert.

Ironically, we found a perfect location for the ending of the film and the scene where the immigrants are picked up.

Casting was a long and arduous process but we have our winners. Diletta helped us out a ton on our first day of auditions by reading as Karen with everyone else. Ralph Edward came in to read for a role that we cut out of the film but we casted him as Ellis, the disgruntled rancher vigilante.
